Hotels and places to stay around Pasikuda, Sri Lanka

Hotels in Pasikuda

Pasikuda's bay is famously shallow: you can wade out a long way before the water reaches your chest. That makes it one of the best beaches in Sri Lanka for families with small children. The hotels stand side by side along the bay, so the choice is mainly about style.

When to come

The east coast is dry and calm from about May to September, when much of the west and south coast is wet. From roughly November to January the north-east monsoon arrives, and Pasikuda's season is over.

What to do

Swimming and water sports at Pasikuda and Kalkudah are the main activities. Batticaloa, about an hour south, has a Dutch fort, a lagoon and the Kallady bridge, where "singing fish" are said to be heard on still nights. Polonnaruwa is around two hours inland.

See our Pasikuda guide, or look north at hotels in Trincomalee.

A note on the hotel list

Anantaya Resort and Spa, which appears on this page, is in Chilaw on the west coast, not in Pasikuda. Ask us about it separately if you plan to stay on the west coast.
