Planning your stay
Tissamaharama is the usual base for Yala, about 30 minutes from the main park entrance. Morning safaris start early, around dawn, so a hotel close to the park helps. Yala is partly closed for a few weeks in the dry season, usually around September.
The hotel has 40 bedrooms, listed as Deluxe Rooms and Suites. Rooms are air-conditioned, with a minibar, a safe, satellite TV, tea and coffee making facilities and free Wi-Fi.
