Why stay here

It suits travellers who want a quiet, good value base for Yala, with the lake on the doorstep. The lakes around Tissamaharama are good for birds in the early morning and evening.

Planning your stay

Tissamaharama is the usual base for Yala, about 30 minutes from the main park entrance. Morning safaris start early, around dawn, so a hotel close to the park helps. Yala is partly closed for a few weeks in the dry season, usually around September. Bring binoculars, a hat and neutral clothing for game drives, and book a jeep with a tracker who knows the park.

Things to do nearby

The resort is about 1.6 km from the Tissamaharama Raja Maha Vihara, 14.9 km from Kataragama and 16.6 km from Bundala bird sanctuary. Take a Yala safari or visit Sithulpawwa.
