How to Get There
Amaya Lake sits beside the Kandalama reservoir, about 12 km east of Dambulla. The airport at Katunayake is around 150 km away, about 3 hours 45 minutes by car, travelling via Kurunegala, using the Central Expressway for the first part.
Coming from central Colombo instead, allow 4 hours for roughly 170 km.
To keep arrival simple, ask us for a private transfer with a chauffeur who meets you outside arrivals. You can keep the car for touring afterwards. Allow extra time at weekends and on public holidays, when the roads out of Colombo are busier.
