How to Get There
Ella Jungle Resort is in the forest below Ella, off the road down towards Wellawaya. From Bandaranaike International Airport it is about 215 km by road, about 6 hours, travelling through Ratnapura, Balangoda and Haputale, or on the longer but faster route via the Southern Expressway and Wellawaya.
If you start in Colombo, it is around 205 km, about 6 hours on the road.
As of October 2026 the hill country line is closed between Kandy and Nanu Oya after Cyclone Ditwah, so the trip from Colombo is by road. Trains do run between Nanu Oya, Ella and Badulla if you are coming from elsewhere in the hills.
We can book a private air conditioned transfer from the airport or anywhere in Colombo, and the driver can stay with you for the rest of your holiday if you wish. Allow extra time at weekends and on public holidays, when the roads out of Colombo are busier.
