Wild Coast Tented Lodge is a luxury camp at Yala, part of the Relais and Chateaux group. It is a place to take a break from busy lives, where nothing is rushed. The lodge sits in dense forest, blends into its surroundings, and has many paths and trails leading to quiet spots.

Planning your stay
Tissamaharama is the usual base for Yala, about 30 minutes from the main park entrance. Morning safaris start early, around dawn, so a hotel close to the park helps. Yala is partly closed for a few weeks in the dry season, usually around September. Bring binoculars, a hat and neutral clothing for game drives, and book a jeep with a tracker who knows the park.
Accommodation is in Cocoon Pool Suites, Cocoon Suites and Family Cocoons with Urchin. The tents are made of carefully chosen natural materials and shaped and coloured to echo the rock formations nearby.

The entry-level cocoon is 55 sqm, with a king size bed, its own pool and sea views. It has air conditioning, a fan and a bathtub.

How to Get There
Wild Coast Tented Lodge is on the coast at Palatupana, at the edge of Yala National Park. From Bandaranaike International Airport it is about 295 km by road, about 5 hours 15 minutes, travelling via the Southern Expressway and its extension towards Hambantota, then on through Tissamaharama.
From central Colombo the journey is about 265 km and takes about 4 hours 45 minutes.
To keep arrival simple, ask us for a private transfer with a chauffeur who meets you outside arrivals. You can keep the car for touring afterwards. Allow extra time at weekends and on public holidays, when the roads out of Colombo are busier.
