Planning your stay
Unawatuna is about ten minutes from Galle Fort and roughly two hours from Colombo on the expressway. Its sheltered bay is good for swimming, and the season on the south coast runs from about November to April. Unawatuna is also a good base for day trips along the south coast to Koggala, Mirissa and the turtle hatcheries.

How to Get There
Cantaloupe Aqua is on the coast at Thalpe, east of Unawatuna. From Bandaranaike International Airport it is about 160 km by road, about 2 and a half hours, travelling via the Southern Expressway to Galle, then a few kilometres east on the coast road.
Coming from central Colombo instead, allow 2 hours 15 minutes for roughly 130 km.
The coastal railway from Colombo Fort also runs along this shore, a slower but scenic alternative if you travel light.
