Planning your stay
Unawatuna is about ten minutes from Galle Fort and roughly two hours from Colombo on the expressway. Its sheltered bay is good for swimming, and the season on the south coast runs from about November to April. Unawatuna is also a good base for day trips along the south coast to Koggala, Mirissa and the turtle hatcheries.

How to Get There
Cantaloupe Levels is on the hillside above Unawatuna. From Bandaranaike International Airport it is about 155 km by road, about 2 and a half hours, travelling via the Southern Expressway to Galle, then a few kilometres east on the coast road.
If you start in Colombo, it is around 125 km, about 2 hours on the road.
The coastal railway from Colombo Fort also runs along this shore, a slower but scenic alternative if you travel light.
Bubble Sri Lanka Holidays arranges private transfers from the airport and from anywhere in the country, with the option of keeping the car and chauffeur for your whole stay. Allow extra time at weekends and on public holidays, when the roads out of Colombo are busier.
