How to Get There
Oak Ray Ella Gap Hotel sits on the main road through Ella town. The airport at Katunayake is around 210 km away, about 6 hours by car, travelling through Ratnapura, Balangoda and Haputale, or on the longer but faster route via the Southern Expressway and Wellawaya.
From central Colombo the journey is about 200 km and takes about 5 hours 45 minutes.
As of October 2026 the hill country line is closed between Kandy and Nanu Oya after Cyclone Ditwah, so the trip from Colombo is by road. Trains do run between Nanu Oya, Ella and Badulla if you are coming from elsewhere in the hills.
