Overview
Ella's hills, tea estates and forest make a dramatic backdrop for zip lining. The main operator, Flying Ravana, opened its lines near Little Adam's Peak in 2019. It is often described as one of the longest zip lines in Sri Lanka, and it has quickly become one of the most popular adventure activities in town.
What to expect
After a safety briefing and harness fitting, you ride across a valley above tea and trees, with views of Ella Rock, Little Adam's Peak and the gap towards the lowlands. Riders usually go seated in a harness, and sometimes two lines run side by side so friends can ride at the same time. Staff help at both ends.
How long it takes
The ride lasts about a minute, but allow around an hour for the walk, briefing and waiting.
When to go
Morning, for clear views and fewer queues. Rides may stop in heavy rain or high wind.
Getting there
The zip line site is near the start of the Little Adam's Peak trail, about 10 minutes by tuk-tuk from Ella town or a short walk.
Prices and limits
Prices, age and weight limits are set by the operator and can change. Check before you go, and book ahead in the busy season.
Safety tips
- Follow staff instructions and keep hands clear of the line.
- Wear closed shoes and secure loose items.
- Tell staff about any health conditions.
