Planning your stay
Tangalle is on the deep south coast, about three hours from Colombo by expressway. Its beaches are quieter than those further west, and the best season is from about November to April. Some beaches here shelve steeply and have strong currents, so check with locals before swimming.

Swim at Goyambokka, see birds at Kalametiya, watch turtles nesting at Rekawa, visit the cave temple of Mulkirigala, or go whale watching in Mirissa, or walk the ramparts of Galle Fort.

How to Get There
Amanwella is on a crescent of beach at Godellawela, west of Tangalle. From Bandaranaike International Airport it is about 210 km by road, about 3 hours 15 minutes, travelling via the Southern Expressway to the Beliatta area, then the coast road into Tangalle.
If you start in Colombo, it is around 185 km, about 3 hours on the road.
We can book a private air conditioned transfer from the airport or anywhere in Colombo, and the driver can stay with you for the rest of your holiday if you wish. Road times are a guide only and can vary with traffic and weather.
