Why stay here
It suits families who want a classic beach holiday with pools, food choices and calm sea in season.
More about the area
Beruwala has a long, wide beach and a busy fishing harbour, where colourful boats bring in the catch each morning. The hotel arranges deep sea fishing and parasailing, and Bentota's river and Bawa's gardens are just down the road.
Planning your stay
Beruwala is about an hour and a half south of Colombo. Its sheltered bay and calm sea from about November to April make it popular for family beach holidays and Ayurveda stays. Beruwala is said to be the site of one of the first Muslim settlements on the island, and the Kechimalai mosque stands on the headland.
Things to do nearby

How to Get There
You will find The Palms on Moragalla beach at Beruwala. The drive from Bandaranaike International Airport covers roughly 105 km and takes 2 hours or so, travelling via the Southern Expressway, leaving it near Welipenna for the coast.
If you start in Colombo, it is around 65 km, about 1 hour 15 minutes on the road.
The coastal railway from Colombo Fort also runs along this shore, a slower but scenic alternative if you travel light.
Bubble Sri Lanka Holidays arranges private transfers from the airport and from anywhere in the country, with the option of keeping the car and chauffeur for your whole stay. Times are approximate and depend on traffic, especially around Colombo.
