Planning your stay
Weligama is about two hours from Colombo on the Southern Expressway. Its wide, gentle bay is one of the best places in the country to learn to surf, especially from about November to April. Surf schools and board hire are easy to find along the beach, and Mirissa's whale watching harbour is only a short drive away.

How to Get There
We Escape Hotel is on Weligama bay. From Bandaranaike International Airport it is about 175 km by road, about 2 hours 45 minutes, travelling via the Southern Expressway, leaving it for the coast near Weligama.
If you start in Colombo, it is around 150 km, about 2 hours 15 minutes on the road.
The coastal railway from Colombo Fort also runs along this shore, a slower but scenic alternative if you travel light.
