How to Get There
Camellia Hills sits on a hill near Hatton, above the Castlereagh reservoir. The airport at Katunayake is around 140 km away, about 4 hours by car, travelling through Avissawella and Kitulgala, then up into the tea country.
Coming from central Colombo instead, allow 3 hours 45 minutes for roughly 130 km.
As of October 2026 the hill country line is closed between Kandy and Nanu Oya after Cyclone Ditwah, so the trip from Colombo is by road. Trains do run between Nanu Oya, Ella and Badulla if you are coming from elsewhere in the hills.
Bubble Sri Lanka Holidays can arrange a private car with an English speaking chauffeur for your arrival and departure, or keep the same driver with you for the rest of your trip. Allow extra time at weekends and on public holidays, when the roads out of Colombo are busier.
