Maya Tangalle is a boutique villa in Tangalle, about four hours from the international airport. It was once a Sri Lankan manor house, a walauwa, and has been restored with contemporary interiors that complement the colonial architecture. It suits families, couples, especially honeymooners, and small groups.

Why stay here
It suits those who want the calm of a private house, with good food and time to unwind among the paddy fields.
Planning your stay
Tangalle is on the deep south coast, about three hours from Colombo by expressway. Its beaches are quieter than those further west, and the best season is from about November to April. Some beaches here shelve steeply and have strong currents, so check with locals before swimming.
There are five suites, named Thekka, Khumbuk, Amba, Ehela and Kohomba, all looking over the pool.
Thekka
Thekka is a 24 sqm suite with a king size or twin beds and views of the garden and pool. It has air conditioning and a fan.
