Bentota is about an hour and a half south of Colombo. The river and the beach make it popular with families and water sports fans, and the sea is calmest from about November to April. The Bentota river is good for boat trips through mangroves, and there are turtle hatcheries along the coast nearby.

How to Get There
Taru Villas - Rock Villa sits in Bentota, a short walk from the beach. The airport at Katunayake is around 105 km away, about 2 hours by car, travelling via the Southern Expressway, leaving it near Welipenna for the coast.
Coming from central Colombo instead, allow 1 hour 30 minutes for roughly 65 km.
The coastal railway from Colombo Fort also runs along this shore, a slower but scenic alternative if you travel light.
To keep arrival simple, ask us for a private transfer with a chauffeur who meets you outside arrivals. You can keep the car for touring afterwards. Times are approximate and depend on traffic, especially around Colombo.
