Planning your stay
Galle is about two hours from Colombo on the Southern Expressway. Inside the fort everything is within walking distance, and the beaches of Unawatuna and Mirissa are a short drive away. The south coast is driest from about November to April. Galle Fort is best explored on foot in the early morning or late afternoon, when it is cooler; the ramparts are a favourite place to watch the sunset.

Grand Ocean View

One Bedroom Suite

How to Get There
You will find Amari Galle on the coast north of Galle town. The drive from Bandaranaike International Airport covers roughly 145 km and takes 2 hours 15 minutes or so, travelling via the Southern Expressway, which ends a few kilometres from the town.
Coming from central Colombo instead, allow 1 hour 45 minutes for roughly 115 km.
The coastal railway from Colombo Fort also runs along this shore, a slower but scenic alternative if you travel light.
