Bar Reef Resort is in Kalpitiya, a coastal area in the Puttalam district of north-west Sri Lanka. It is a resort on a 2 km stretch of private, sandy beach, surrounded by wild scrub, marshes and mangroves. It welcomes families and large groups.

Things to do nearby
Kalpitiya is known for dolphin and whale watching, usually from about November to April, and for kite surfing when the winds are strong. The offshore Bar Reef, after which the resort is named, is Sri Lanka's largest coral reef. You can also take a day trip to Munneswaram temple.

How to Get There
You will find Bar Reef Resort on the beach at Alankuda on the Kalpitiya peninsula. The drive from Bandaranaike International Airport covers roughly 135 km and takes 3 hours or so, travelling north up the coast road through Chilaw and Puttalam, then out onto the Kalpitiya peninsula.
Coming from central Colombo instead, allow 3 and a half hours for roughly 165 km.
