More about the area
The bay here is sheltered by a reef, and in season the water is clear enough to see fish from the surface. Hiriketiya's surf and the Hummanaya blowhole are a short drive away, as are the towns of Matara and Tangalle.
Planning your stay
Dickwella is on the south coast, about three hours from Colombo on the expressway, between Mirissa and Tangalle. Surf at Hiriketiya is best from about November to April. The coast here is quieter than Mirissa or Unawatuna, and a good base for day trips to Tangalle, Dondra and Matara.
Things to do nearby
Surf at Hiriketiya, go diving and snorkelling on the reef, try the beach swing, go whale watching in Mirissa, or walk the ramparts of Galle Fort.

How to Get There
Dikwella Resort and Spa sits on the rocky shore at Dickwella. The airport at Katunayake is around 200 km away, about 3 hours 15 minutes by car, travelling via the Southern Expressway past Matara, then the coast road.
From central Colombo the journey is about 175 km and takes about 2 hours 45 minutes.
We can book a private air conditioned transfer from the airport or anywhere in Colombo, and the driver can stay with you for the rest of your holiday if you wish. Times are approximate and depend on traffic, especially around Colombo.
