North Gate by Jetwing

North Gate by Jetwing is a hotel in Jaffna, about eight hours by road from Colombo. It welcomes families. The northern peninsula was little visited for many years, but recent development has changed the area. The north has much to discover: the remains of old kingdoms and temples with detailed architecture. Jaffna's food, its Hindu festivals and its Dutch and Portuguese history all add to the picture, and the list of things to see is long.

Planning your stay

Jaffna is in the far north, about seven hours by road or a domestic flight from Colombo, and also reached by train. Its Tamil culture, temples and food are quite different from the south.

Things to do nearby

Visit Nallur Kovil, the Jaffna fort and the public library, swim at Casuarina Beach, or sail to Delft Island. The Chundikulam bird sanctuary is also close by.

How to Get There

North Gate by Jetwing is in Jaffna, near the railway station. From Bandaranaike International Airport it is about 370 km by road, about 7 and a half hours, travelling north via Kurunegala, Anuradhapura and Vavuniya on the A9.

If you start in Colombo, it is around 395 km, about 8 hours on the road.
