Planning your stay
Mirissa is about two and a half hours from Colombo on the Southern Expressway. Whale watching boats run mainly from about November to April, which is also the best beach season on the south coast. Whale watching trips leave early in the morning, and the sea can be rough, so take seasickness tablets if you need them and choose an operator that follows the whale watching guidelines.
Things to do nearby
Go whale and dolphin watching, the trip that made Mirissa famous, visit the Dondra Head lighthouse, the tallest in Sri Lanka, see the turtles at the Habaraduwa hatchery, or explore Galle Fort.

How to Get There
You will find Ubuntu Beach Villas by Lantern on the beach at Mirissa. The drive from Bandaranaike International Airport covers roughly 180 km and takes 3 hours or so, travelling via the Southern Expressway, then a short drive down to the coast.
From central Colombo the journey is about 155 km and takes about 2 and a half hours.
The coastal railway from Colombo Fort also runs along this shore, a slower but scenic alternative if you travel light.
To keep arrival simple, ask us for a private transfer with a chauffeur who meets you outside arrivals. You can keep the car for touring afterwards.
